Re:       Bamberg County Partners with Local Law Enforcement School Supply Drive

Bamberg, South Carolina (July 2025) – Bamberg County Council and Administration are happy to announce they have partnered with local law enforcement agencies to provide area students with school supplies. The Denmark and Bamberg Police Departments and the Bamberg County Sheriff’s Office are hosting a Bamberg County Back-to-school Supply Giveaway this Saturday, July 26, from 8-11 a.m. at the gazebo on Highway 321 near Wee Bake in Denmark, SC.

Last Friday, at the Ed Darnell Law Enforcement Center, Bamberg County Council members Dr. Jonathan Goodman and Michelle Martin, along with Bamberg County Clerk to Council Rose Shepherd and Deputy County Administrator Thomas Thomas, presented a $ 1,500 check to support the drive. Denmark Police Department Sgt. Richard Preacher, Bamberg Police Department Assistant Chief Bryan Shuler, Bamberg Police Department Victim Advocate Connie Haddock, and Bamberg County Sheriff’s Office Community Outreach Coordinator Sgt. Shauntina Benson accepted the donation on behalf of their respective agencies.

Community members who wish to donate to the school supply drive should drop off their donations at the Denmark or Bamberg Police Department or the Bamberg County Sheriff’s Office.

“We are so appreciative of our local law enforcement agencies who continue to protect us while pouring into our community. Bamberg County Council is honored to partner with them in this endeavor,” stated Councilman Dr. Jonathan Goodman.

Councilwoman Michelle Martin added, “There is nothing more precious to a society than its children, and we are happy to help them in this way.”
