Department Functions
Charged with oversight of personnel, payroll and purchasing activities for Bamberg County.
Support Services:
- Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates the County’s human resource and personnel process
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Oversees the preparation and maintenance of personnel records and files
- Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates the County’s personnel management program, including classification and pay, employee relations, recruitment and selection, and benefits administration
- Implements and abides by County-wide personnel policies and procedures
- Attends training, seminars and conference, and conducts research to stay abreast of legislation and trends in human resource administration
- Conducts all business with extreme care and confidentiality
- Assists in the preparation of the County’s payroll
- Maintains the County’s payroll records and files and prepares reports as needed
- Ensures that all payroll processing is accomplished on schedule and in accordance with policy
- Verifies enrollment forms and ensures health insurance and retirement files are set up in the payroll system
- Transmits new employment information to the South Carolina New Hire Reporting Program and ensures compliance with the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce
- Ensures that financial information is provided to the County’s external auditors
