How to Register to Vote

  • Register at the County Voter Registration Office. Proof of residency is required. Social Security number is required by the S.C. Code of Laws and is used for internal purposes only.
  • Register by mail. If you are registering for the first time in the county, you must attach a copy of a current valid photo ID or a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck or other government document that shows your name and address in this county. If you do not provide this identification information when you register by mail, you will be required to provide this information when you vote. (Pursuant to the Help America Vote Act)
  • Register at any of the designated motor voter sites, including the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Department of Social Services and other state and federal public service agencies.
